PLUNGE (2015)
'That’s why they call it Cafe Nero, you know. Because you sit and fiddle with your iPad while the world
outside burns.' For over 400 years the smell of coffee has seeped into our streets, our lives, our society. Hub for gossip, romance, political tub thumping, dodgy deals, completing a new pitch, book clubs, a moment alone, escaping being alone - if walls could talk. And in one coffee shop in a town just over the horizon, those walls can talk, time escapes us and those that visit the coffee house, dream in the coffee house, plot and scheme in the coffee house all vie for our attention in a beautifully nuanced, funny and poignant new play about the dark stuff. ...... Set in a coffee shop that’s going backwards in time: A play about coffee and capitalism. “incredibly funny for its
sheer brutality” - THE REVIEWS HUB “witty and wise” - REMOTE GOAT Premier - The Bike Shed Theatre
Produced by Theatre West Director: Beth Shouler Cast: Lois Mackie and Philip Perry Publication PLUNGE is published in artisan magazine: STANDART, following an interview about coffee, playwrighting and poledancing. |
POSEIDON (2015)
A collaboration with American artist, performer, clown & gymnast Kelly Miller.
A new Poseidon waxes lyrical - including the truth behind the Odyssey, the questionable history of cruise ships and standing up for sea nymphs. With a strong positioning of two women gods this show seeks to make waves – raise the sea levels and the heart rate, blending erotica and academia and all the while splashing the patriarchy. Made by Rose and Kelly - the latter as Poseidon and featuring Rose as Zeus/Tech Operator. Development with support from Katherine McAlpine for the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich (for Emma Hamilton: Seduction & Celebrity exhibition on the it-girl, spy & Lord Nelson’s mistress), & FrameWork Space at The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter. |

'O! no mortal could support the horror of that countenance.'
You know this story: a monstrous experiment becomes terrifyingly real. Well, Victor's got a record to set straight. And it's amazing what can happen in a room full of people hearing a story for the first time. You haven't heard the story told like this.
A genderqueer retelling produced by the inaugural Mashed Up North festival.

The Good Review
“I was about halfway through Rose Biggin’s Victor Frankenstein when a twist so audacious happened that it proved shows still have to power to surprise and amaze even seasoned theatre goers. [...] it is anachronistic, anarchic and all together brilliant.”
